Dr. Blaya-Alvarez is a general dermatologist (medical and surgical dermatology in adults and children) with a special interest in skin cancer, inflammatory diseases of the skin, and genital dermatoses.
Dr. Blaya-Alvarez graduated from the University of Barcelona, Spain, in 2004. He completed his dermatology training in University Hospital Cruces in Bilbao, and worked as a consultant dermatologist in university teaching hospitals in Bilbao and Madrid, Spain, for eight years before moving to Australia in 2017. He has completed a 2-year upskilling training working at Westmead Hospital, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and The Skin Hospital Westmead. He has become a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists after successfully completing the Fellowship exams.
He was awarded a PhD for work in molecular aspects of melanoma progression in 2013 (University of the Basque Country, Spain) and has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers and conference presentations at national and international dermatology forums.
