Dr. Esther Hong is a highly regarded general Dermatologist with a breadth of experience across Sydney.
She has particular expertise in skin cancer detection and management, acne, eczema, psoriasis, paediatric and vulval dermatology, axillary hyperhidrosis, and cosmetic dermatology.
She has extensive experience working in research and clinical dermatology across New South Wales as a Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and private practices across Sydney. Dr Hong currently serves as Head of the Dermatology Department at Royal North Shore Hospital and is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. She has previously lectured at the University of New South Wales School of Medicine and served on the Northern Sydney Local Health District Human Research Ethics Committee.
A committed educator and mentor, Dr Hong is an active member of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, where she has previously held the role of Director of Training.
She is the current Director of St George Dermatology and Skin Cancer Centre and its Clinical Trials Unit, where she leads as Principal Investigator on a wide range of dermatology clinical trials across various disease indications and trial phases.
Dr Hong also contributes to the academic dermatology community as a member of the Expert Advisory Committee for the Australian Journal of Dermatology, and formerly served on its editorial board. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at both national and international conferences. Notably, she was a scholarship recipient at the World Congress of Dermatology in Seoul, South Korea, where she presented her research to a global audience of dermatologists.
Dr Hong graduated with Honours from the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney and holds a Master’s degree in dermatology research.
